About
After an earlier band era, Flieder exchanged their former musicians for a loop station and started making music as a duo. Somewhere between trip-hop and post-rock, they create soundscapes and drift around inside them together, releasing the albums "Eins" (2010) and "Passing By" (2014) over the years. They describe their loop station as somewhat complicated and stubborn, perhaps that's why they came up with the idea of the reverse remix: They swapped the loop device again for fellow musicians from their label collective "Red Brick Chapel" - and added guitars, percussion, bass and synthesizer. Between 2016 and 2019, they toured as the Flieder Ensemble, wrote new songs, played them and recorded them again and again.
This is how the new album "Encore" came into being, a constantly moving stream, precisely played, intricate and persistently moving forward. Organic post-rock with some joyful outbursts. "Ressiga", the last song on the album, was recorded in Lugano in 2019 and will be the last new Flieder song.
On 4 August 2020, Thomas Troxler sadly passed away. With a bass-driven ending, the melody of the St.Gallen Flieder thus also fades into the ether with the last synthwave. But before Flieder simply becomes a fragrant blossom again, here comes the Encore!
