Rolling on a scooter in cowboy boots: On the new album "Blue Star Soft Eyes" (18 October 2024, Red Brick Records) Luce arrives with a gentle but observant expression. The road seems wobbly - a challenge or a playground for youthful courage?

In spring 2023, the solo project of Lucerne musician Tiziana Greco (voc, git, synth) expanded into a four-piece band with Aline Stadler (drums), Mirko Geiger (bass, voc) and Beda Mächler (egit, voc). For the upcoming album, eight new songs were recorded by Timo Keller at Studio vom Dach (Kush K, Mnevis, Hanreti). After deep listening and exploring slowness on the debut album «am I slow enough?» (2022, Red Brick Records) and five years into the project, the new record marks a change.

Acoustic simplicity paired with whimsical curiosity characterise the new formation. Together, the four musicians extend and deepen Luce's playful poetry with nimble melodies, surprising song structures and polyphonic singing. The synthesizer, which previously played a leading role in Luce's music, now provides occasional accents. The guitar, on which Tiziana Greco wrote most of the songs, now often takes center stage. Hinting at Folk and Americana, the warm sound reminds one of Aldous Harding or Andy Shauf.

The lyrics tell of by-gone realities and illustrate observations from everyday life, responding to them with ease and care. The songs tell of one's lows and the paths leading back to the surface.

In this departure, the eponymous “Blue Star” illuminates the road that Luce travels, her “Soft Eyes” fixed on a new destination, resulting in a gentle liberation. The music carefully addresses change and finiteness - a farewell embrace that heralds a reunion.
