Lightning Sulfur Calm initially appears to be a consistent continuation of their two previous albums, yet it is different. As always with Mnevis, genre boundaries are explored, stretched, redrawn, and blurred again – yet the unmistakable red thread that makes the band so unique is always present. On their third album Lightning Sulfur Calm, Mnevis remains distinctly diverse. Everything seems to be in motion, and musical curiosity is palpable in every corner. The new album features nine tracks, from the sunny anthem Sparks (Zig Zag) to the epic, pulsating T.K. Collider and the compelling club head-nodder Curiosity. Despite their differences, the songs share a fascination with what has made Mnevis one of the standout bands in the Swiss indie scene since their acclaimed debut Episodes: driving rhythms, meticulous songwriting, carefully placed instruments, and the ethereal voice of Mario Hänni hovering above it all.
With Lightning Sulfur Calm, Mnevis once again creates their own sonic universe – soothingly relaxed, experimental, and simultaneously danceable. MNEVIS DOING MNEVIS THINGS.
