Subaqua is an indie rock duo from St.Gallen and Lucerne, consisting of Jolanda and Kat. The duo combines repetitive guitars and post-punk elements with breathless vocals and words strung together. The two musicians met at college and have been pursuing music/projects together ever since. They founded subaqua in 2018. In their music they reflect their experiences and perceptions of themselves in their surroundings. Queerness, forests, mental health, mountains and adulthood find expression in their songs.
Their Debut EP Foxes Prowl tells of reorientation and worn-out skins. The three songs were written in a time of uncertainty and daily overstimulation. Driven and introspective, subaqua traces a childhood with Discmans, being outdoors and the sounds of the 2000s.
Window Hop completes the EP Foxes Prowl and tells of slow, dull workplace situations, time and money worries. With rock, cheerful guitars and cheeky lyrics, the band responds to the situation and gives the monotony a kick. Less severity, more fun and chocolate santas in: January!
